Tips dan Diari Perjalanan KK-Kundasang: Day 2

We supposed to go for snorkeling at Tunku Abdul Rahman National Park (Pulau Manukan to be exact) but some reasons we’ve decided to proceed to Kundasang. But my wife want to visit Philipine Market first before we continue our journey. I got mixed up with the direction, we ended circling a few time at Kota Kinabalu’s town. As I expected my children got excited when they saw the sea and asked when are we going for island hoping. Anyway, a map and a GPS is so important if you decided you want to drive all by yourself. Thankful I have my Papago with me..which I just bought two month before this trip.

Day 2: Cyber City Apartment to Pasar Filipine

Day 2: Cyber City Apartment to Pasar Filipine

Our journey starts from Pasar Filipine and we decided to stop at Rumah Terbalik (Overturned House) at Tamparuli. About 35 minutes journey fr KK. It’s still early, so, we are among the first visitors.

Our 1st stop was Rumah Terbalik in Tamparuli

When I realize the view of Mont Kinabalu is so clear that morning, I know I’ve done a big mistake by not starting this journey earlier and by stopping here..at Rumah Terbalik. I wish by the time we reach Pekan Nabalu, the summit is still clear. Pekan Nabalu is another 40 minutes drive.

2nd stop..Pekan Nabalu

DSC_0142 DSC_0143 DSC_0145 DSC_0155 DSC_0157 What do you do in Pekan Nabalu beside hoping to see the full view of Mont Kinabalu? Shopping!!! There’s a few rows of souvernir and fruit shops here. Some say.. souvernirs are much cheaper here. Hmm.. not exactly. Definitely, not pearls. Sabah pearls you can bargain it at Pasar Filipine. Not here. Other items..depend on your bargaining skills.. RM100++ jugak le habis kat sini.

From Pekan Nabalu to Kinabalu Park it will takes more than 20 minutes..depends on the traffic.

From Pekan Nabalu to Kinabalu Park it will takes more than 20 minutes..depends on the traffic.

It will take around 1/2 hour drive to Kinabalu Park because from Pekan Nabalu onwards..it’s an uphill & winding roads. You might get stuck behind a truck(s) or a lorry(ies) or other heavy loads vehicles…then, the 15km journey might become more than 1/2 an hour. So, be patient and just enjoy the views on your left & right side of your car… and freshness of the mountain breeze.

It’s better to come early.. if not you’ll be queuing to enter this place. And it’s not necessary you want to wait to see ‘perah susu’ session. Nothing much to see..coz it’s fully automatic. Better if the farm management to arrange a demo (the old/traditional way) on the milking session.

Ok. Dairy Farm..checked and done… Susu dah beli. Susu segar [1liter + 2kotak kecik] = RM12.80. Ais krim +pop corn = RM24.50. Dah selesai activity for today.. we drive back to the homestay. Diorang pun macam dah nak tutup. Sampai di homestay..kemas2 barang. Check barang dapur apa nak masak. Time tu baru teringat… susu yg dibeli tadi takde dalam kete. Dah..tertinggal dah kat Dairy Farm. Tak mungkin boleh masuk balik. Halal jelah. So, sekarang nak masak apa? Gi pekan Kundasang lah cari ikan. Apa yg ada je beli.. jumpa ikan kacang. Orang situ kata sedap. Try jelah. Okay jugak wife aku masak ikan tu. Buat masak kicap je. Goreng telur dadar. Beresss… Tapi 1st day mandi kat situ..ayaq sejuk gila..Memang kena pakai ayaq panaih. Basuh tangan..macam nak beku. Nak basuh pinggan pun cabaran..rasa beku jari2 ni. Yalah..paip dapuq mana ada heater. Sekian untuk hari ini. Day 3.. Sabah Tea Garden, Poring Hot Spring and back to Kota Kinabalu.
