Tips dan Diari Perjalanan KK-Kundasang: Day 4

•November 18, 2016 • Leave a Comment

Me & my wife decided last night.. we must take our children to Pulau Manukan this morning. Because..we can never know if we have this opportunity again.  Datang jauh2.. tak bawak diorg gi pulau.. rugi tu beb. The children already looking forward for this before we even start our journey to Sabah..

Start early in the morning.. cause we only got 3 hours on the island

Start early in the morning.. cause we only got 3 hours on the island

Luckly today.. the sky is clear.. no indication of raining like yesterday. Within 15 minutes we’ve reached Jesselton Point. We’re super excited. There’s many counter for the island hoping. Choose the package wisely people. Because we have a plane to catch at 3.40pm. We choose to charter a boat for 2 hours and 1 island.. Pulau Manukan. Eventhough it was just 1 island…it was fun. And 2 hours is not enough. Hard to explain.. you’ve got to experience it. We’re nearly missed the boat back to the jetty. Luckily we’ve packed our bags before going for island hoping. So, we managed to reached the airport 1 hour before take off. End of the best journey.

Tips dan Diari Perjalanan KK-Kundasang: Day 3

•November 18, 2016 • Leave a Comment

I wake up early just to take glimpse of the whole view of Mont Kinabalu. Why you should stay overnight at Kundasang? This why..the view. And believe me, one day is not enough. You must stay overnight here. At least one night. I would suggest you start your journey from KK early in the morning. When you arrive in Kundasang, go and visit Dairy Farm. Then, check-in at your selected accommodation. The next day, go to Poring Hot Spring. Not only visiting Taman Kinabalu & Dairy Farm are a must, you should also consider visiting Ranau.. because just a few kilos from Ranau.. Poring Hotspring is a very nice place to ‘chill out’ literally. Oh! and hot dip too. If Sabah Tea is also on your list..you have to visit it early in the morning… or you will miss the spectacular view of Mt. Kinabalu summit.

I’m glad I choose this homestay. Owner adalah keluarga Islam. Homestay ini pun recommended by my friend who was previously went there. Very convenient. It have 3 bedrooms and 2 toilets. A kitchen with all the cooking equipment & kitchen utensil. Just remember.. Dizz Homestay Kundasang. Check-out pagi2 sebab nak bertolak ke Sabah Tea Garden pulak. Tapi biasalah.. melancong bawak budak2.. slow… lambat le sikit. Anyway, thank you Dizz Homestay ..mmg terbaek..memang recommended.

Today’s missions… heading for Sabah Tea Garden & Poring Hot Spring. It will take almost an hour journey. On the way, we’ll stop at Ranau town for refueling at the nearest Petronas stations. Kena queue boh.. banyak jugak kenderaan pagi-pagi nih.

Journey to Sabah Tea Garden take about 50mins

Journey to Sabah Tea Garden take about 50mins

day3-sabah-tea-garden

Selepas menempuh laluan berliku.. bila nak naik ke Sabah Tea tu..jalan tak berturap.. dalam berapa kilo tak ingat. Bila sampai kat situ .. eh! apa yg istimewanya? Dah le view summit Kinabalu tak nampak. Ate.. udah kul 10 pagi. Blur jap apa nak buat. Bergambo jelah.. last skali masuk ke kantin situ..takde apa nak dimakan..kenyang lagi. Masuk le kedai souvernir… Kontrol2.. duit bajet tak seberape. Teman beli kotak teh kayu yg comel je. Ada lagi isi Sabah Tea dalam tu.. tak guna2 sampai sekarang.

dsc_0487

Aisay..lewat sangat sampai. Tak nampak summit.

dsc_0488

Apa akiviti disini? Nampak le brader tengah bawak pokok teh untuk ditanam

dsc_0499

Tertutup abis.. wrong timing

Background tu café..ada kedai souvernir jgk

dsc_0504

Papan peringatan sejarah zaman Jepun

dsc_0506

Tak minum pun kat sini. Beli le souvernir Teh dlm kotak kayu..cantik

Rasa macam tak berbaloi je gi sini. Tak ada aktiviti..takde tour guide. Kalau masa anda terhad, abaikan Sabah Tea. OK next.. Poring Hot Spring. 30 minutes from Sabah Tea.

Looking forward for this

Looking forward for this.. especially my children

dsc_0508

Adoii.. bestnya tempat ni. Check the map

Kalau aku tau bestnya tempat ni… Poring Hot Spring aku tuju dulu. Nyosal den.

dsc_0512

Entrance fee. Don’t forget to pay. Bukan free yea. Murah je…

Because it’s under Kinabalu Park..so, there a conservation fee (murah je..). My children are super excited to try the Slide Pool (me too..hihi) but we came on the wrong day. Alamak! Closed every Monday.

dsc_0514

Kalau larat berjalan jauh (xdelah jauh sangat) silakan..

dsc_0517

The water looks really cool… cold actually..

dsc_0518

Ahh..love the walkway…

dsc_0524

Don’t worry ..just follow the directions. You won’t get lost.

dsc_0525

This is not the hot spring…this is the cold one..

dsc_0528

Sojuk pon sojuklah… banzaiii…

dsc_0529

Aisay..tutup la plak.

Itulah pentingnya untuk mendapatkan maklumat sebanyak mungkin tentang tempat yg kita nak lawati tu. Slider bertingkat-tingkat. Frust anak2 aku. Sorrylah nak. Remember people.. don’t come here on Monday. Anyway, there’s still the cool pool and the hot pool for you to enjoy.

dsc_0530

Bla..bla..bla.. ujung bwh sekali.. Isnin “TUTUP”

dsc_0531

Nengok je ler…

dsc_0533

Rock Pool..freakin cold

dsc_0534

Ahh…hot spring.. freakin hot..hihi

Apa bawah bumbung2 tu? Ah… tempat mandi air panas.. boleh campur air sejuk. Tengok setakat mana hangpa boleh tahan panas. Rupanya macam tub mandi.. lebih kurang la. Korang boleh google camne rupanya. Aku lupa nak ambik gambo. Segan nk ambik gambo sebenor2nye..sb semua tempat dah ada org. Karang ada yg kena pelangkong dgn baldi plak.

dsc_0545

This is the main building. Just after the entrance gate.

This is the information centre. Everything about Poring Hot Spring.

dsc_0550

Wah! this is just outside Poring’s entrance gate

Ada deretan kedai diluar pintu masuk Poring Hot Spring…terutama kedai2 yg berkaitan dgn peralatan mandi lah..apa lagi. Bersusun-susun pelampung budak.

dsc_0551

Mana kedai makan nih…dah tengahari ni. Panas giler beb bila tengahari kat sini.

Dah selesai berkubang… time to move. Before that, time to eat… lunch time. Not many gerai selling food. Okay we found one. Looks like a Muslim eating place…but unlucky for us we have chosen the wrong eating place. The service was slow.. and I don’t know what kind of meal that they cook for us. Rasanya..failed.  My advice.. if you don’t feels like eating here..don’t force yourself. Just drive yourself to Kundasang or you can stop at Ranau town. Banyak lagi kedai2 halal.. sebab Ranau & Kundasang ni majoritinya Islam.

Before going back to KK..we take a stop at Kundasang town.. Kot ada sayur2 nk dibawak balik ke KK. Eh! Tapi plannya nak dinner kt Hj. Manja… uiii..special tuh…

Looking for Kundasang's

dsc_0597

dsc_0591

Shopping udah..moh degraih. Dah pukul 3.15pm ni. Ini kabus makin tebal ni. Kalau hujan pulan otw to KK.. bertambah haru. My advice, kalau nak turun dari Kundasang ni.. jangan lewat2 sangat. Petang sini berkabus.. jalan berliku pulak tu. Kita org luar yg tak biasa jalan sini.. eloklah turun awal skit. Org kata lepas kul 3pm banyak kabus. Dah le jalan menurun.. fikir2kan yea.

Nearly dark…awok asar pun belum lagi. Sejam lebih nak sampai KK ni. Sepanjang jalan susah nak jumpa surau/masjid. Selepas pekan Nabalu td sampai dekat Tamparuli.. gereja sesaje. Penghujungnye.. asar prayer at Petronas station (not far from Rumah Terbalik). It turn out we are not the only people stopping to pray. The prayer room was quite small. Queue lagi.. kecemasan dah..nak masuk maghrib pun.

Next mission..finding the best place for dinner

Next mission..finding the best place for dinner

Misi seterusnya… Gerai Santai Haji Manja, Dataran Todak, KK. Recommended by my boss. Dia dah berapa kali dtg KK ni sebab monitor site projek kat KK ni. I tell you.. you must come here. Memang sedap. Hujan renyai jugak malam tu. Ku redah juga mencari Gerai Hj. Manja. Tak susah cari.. Senang je.. tak jauh dari statue Ikan Todak kt tepi laut tu.

11a

Gerai Hj Manja tu tak jauh dari statue ni.. dolphin ye.. ku ingatkan todak..

dsc_0605

hah! siap bagi no. henpon lagi

Kami try Ketam Masak Kamyong, Ketam Masak Sambal, Butter Prawn Basah, Siakap, Kailan Ikan Masin.. Huiih! Ketam Masak Kamyong…memang terbaekkklah.. Butter prawn pun sedappp… aku yg tak berapa gemor udang pun terus jatuh cinta. Total semua termasuk air RM117. Memang berbaloi baloi..

dsc_0608

Tips dan Diari Perjalanan KK-Kundasang: Day 2

•October 7, 2014 • Leave a Comment

We supposed to go for snorkeling at Tunku Abdul Rahman National Park (Pulau Manukan to be exact) but some reasons we’ve decided to proceed to Kundasang. But my wife want to visit Philipine Market first before we continue our journey. I got mixed up with the direction, we ended circling a few time at Kota Kinabalu’s town. As I expected my children got excited when they saw the sea and asked when are we going for island hoping. Anyway, a map and a GPS is so important if you decided you want to drive all by yourself. Thankful I have my Papago with me..which I just bought two month before this trip.

Day 2: Cyber City Apartment to Pasar Filipine

Day 2: Cyber City Apartment to Pasar Filipine

Our journey starts from Pasar Filipine and we decided to stop at Rumah Terbalik (Overturned House) at Tamparuli. About 35 minutes journey fr KK. It’s still early, so, we are among the first visitors.

Our 1st stop was Rumah Terbalik in Tamparuli

Here we are.. Rumah Terbalik, Tamparuli

It is upside down.. what about inside the house. Unfortunately, we can’t take photos inside the house. You have to see it by yourself

0212

Even the car is park upside down…

Huh! Is that the summit of Mt. Kinabalu? Wah! So clear one.. This is a bad choice..I should not be stopping here..ayoo..

Wah! The summit can be seen fr here..ayo.. so rugi lah

Wah! The summit can be seen fr here..ayo.. so rugi lah

When I realize the view of Mont Kinabalu is so clear that morning, I know I’ve done a big mistake by not starting this journey earlier and by stopping here..at Rumah Terbalik. I wish by the time we reach Pekan Nabalu, the summit is still clear. Pekan Nabalu is another 40 minutes drive.

2nd stop..Pekan Nabalu

DSC_0142 DSC_0143 DSC_0145 DSC_0155 DSC_0157 What do you do in Pekan Nabalu beside hoping to see the full view of Mont Kinabalu? Shopping!!! There’s a few rows of souvernir and fruit shops here. Some say.. souvernirs are much cheaper here. Hmm.. not exactly. Definitely, not pearls. Sabah pearls you can bargain it at Pasar Filipine. Not here. Other items..depend on your bargaining skills.. RM100++ jugak le habis kat sini.

From Pekan Nabalu to Kinabalu Park it will takes more than 20 minutes..depends on the traffic.

From Pekan Nabalu to Kinabalu Park it will takes more than 20 minutes..depends on the traffic.

It will take around 1/2 hour drive to Kinabalu Park because from Pekan Nabalu onwards..it’s an uphill & winding roads. You might get stuck behind a truck(s) or a lorry(ies) or other heavy loads vehicles…then, the 15km journey might become more than 1/2 an hour. So, be patient and just enjoy the views on your left & right side of your car… and freshness of the mountain breeze.

It’s already afternoon, we’re not yet stop to have our lunch. So, we’ve decided to have our lunch at Kinabalu Park. Nasi lemak that we bought earlier at KK (a restaurant just outside the apartment)

It’s better to come early.. if not you’ll be queuing to enter this place. And it’s not necessary you want to wait to see ‘perah susu’ session. Nothing much to see..coz it’s fully automatic. Better if the farm management to arrange a demo (the old/traditional way) on the milking session.

Ok. Dairy Farm..checked and done… Susu dah beli. Susu segar [1liter + 2kotak kecik] = RM12.80. Ais krim +pop corn = RM24.50. Dah selesai activity for today.. we drive back to the homestay. Diorang pun macam dah nak tutup. Sampai di homestay..kemas2 barang. Check barang dapur apa nak masak. Time tu baru teringat… susu yg dibeli tadi takde dalam kete. Dah..tertinggal dah kat Dairy Farm. Tak mungkin boleh masuk balik. Halal jelah. So, sekarang nak masak apa? Gi pekan Kundasang lah cari ikan. Apa yg ada je beli.. jumpa ikan kacang. Orang situ kata sedap. Try jelah. Okay jugak wife aku masak ikan tu. Buat masak kicap je. Goreng telur dadar. Beresss… Tapi 1st day mandi kat situ..ayaq sejuk gila..Memang kena pakai ayaq panaih. Basuh tangan..macam nak beku. Nak basuh pinggan pun cabaran..rasa beku jari2 ni. Yalah..paip dapuq mana ada heater. Sekian untuk hari ini. Day 3.. Sabah Tea Garden, Poring Hot Spring and back to Kota Kinabalu.

Tips dan Diari Perjalanan KK-Kundasang: Day 1

•October 5, 2014 • Leave a Comment

This is my third time to Sabah. The last time I went there was in 2011. The first time trip was way back 12 years ago…more like work. the second trip was all-guys-hang-out-together kind of thing. This time around is purely family vacation. And finally I’ve got the chance to visit Kundasang. I’m gonna do this in dual languages. Sorry for those who can’t understand Malay. I’ll try my best to tell you in English.

2013-11-16 09.02.10

Sabah…here we come..

How is this journey possible? Cheap flight tickets.. AirAsia. Bought nearly 6 mth ago. Flight time 7.55AM at LCCT. Please be early at least 1 hour before departure…to avoid any unexpected problems. Such as… check-in luggage is 1 hour before departure..not 45minute before flight. Because of the early flight, we book early for flight meals. We ordered Nasi Lemak, Nasi Ayam & Pan Cakes. Don’t forget to order meals before flight day. It will save you a lot. Not only that, food of choices are limited. Anyway, the Nasi Ayam was a let down.. so much different from what we have on the ground. Pity to my son..because he love Nasi Ayam so much..

2013-11-16 09.02.21

Hmmm.. where is this place? Are we over Sarawak?

We arrived at KKIA (Kota Kinabalu International Airport) around 10.30am. Please be aware people.. KKIA have 2 sections. If you coming by AirAsia, you’ll be landing on the old one or LCCT. From KKIA we headed to Cyber City Apartment. You know, this apartment was splendid..awesome. I love it here. The apartment, the facilities (check out the pool), close to the airport, close to shops and around 10-15 minutes to Jesselton Jetty or Philipine Market.

Terminal 2 KKIA is for AirAsia. From Terminal 2 to Cyber City Apartment 2 takes around 15 minutes

Love the Apartment. Great pool.

Cyber City Apartment. Love the Apartment. Great pool.

I would suggest you find a homestay here (Cyber City Apartment) at Jalan Lintas Kepayang, Penampang. For me it worth it because of the facilities, very nice apartment (3 rooms & 2 bathrooms), a fridge and you can cook. Quite comfy for a family vacation. The only drawback is that it doesn’t have a lift (elevator). I can’t recommend any owner of this homestay units. You can search the internet. Because the unit that I had stayed was rented by my company for the whole year. So, I don’t to pay for the rent. But I believe the available unit for the homestay/vacation apartment will cost around RM100/night. Alternatively, you can check this link iBilik for booking.

Tomorrow, Day 2, our journey to Kundasang will begin. Going there, you will need a car. Bila kita mencari & menempah kereta sewa tentulah kita tidak mahu tertipu, jadi kita memerlukan endorsement dari orang2 yang kita kenal. Alhamdulillah, kebetulan salah seorang rakan FB saya baru pulang dari KK memperkenalkan (I was introduced a month ago by my facebook friend, who just get back from Kota Kinabalu, to) Shafee Dulaip (Tanah Air Car Rental) 016-2199787 / 010-9373647. Saya amat berpuashati sebab dapat kereta baru Saga FLX.

My ride for the next 3 days. I like it.. KK - Kundasang..no problemo

My ride for the next 3 days. I like it.. KK – Kundasang..no problemo

Okay..1st day.. takde apa sangat nak cerita sebab asyik hujan je sampai malam. But it’s worth it..really.

Cyber City Apartment 2. The facilities are awesome.

Cyber City Apartment 2. The facilities are awesome.

Malam..dinner masak je..beli barang sikit kat kedai berhampiran. I know my kids would love the beach, the islands, the boat rides… but..since my mom feels unsure about the boat ride.. and a few other things.. we have to do a slight switch of plans. Instead of going to Kundasang late in the afternoon, we decided to go in the morning.  So, my advice is…please plan your vacations wisely and plans in advance. Check the google map..because you can check the distance and you can time your journey. Reads blog of those who have been there. It’s really helpful. Always have a back-up plan..but not a last minute change of plan..because it might turn to an unpleasant one or it might turn out to be a blessing..like me. I’ll tell you later..

Oh..if your journey to Kota Kinabalu strats from KLIA2.. you might consider this.. More infos on KLIA2 can be found from this website.

If you drive your own car to KLIA2, don't worry about where to park your car.
